Services for Children/Adolescents (ages 6-17)

Dr. Khan is an out-of-network provider and, therefore, does not accept insurance. He can, however, provide you with an automated “superbill” that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

Initial Psychiatric Assessment and Evaluation (165 mins)

Treatment of children and adolescents involves understanding them in the context of their family system, school, and larger community. During an initial assessment, Dr. Khan will work with you in understanding your family’s journey getting here and establishing treatment goals for both child/adolescent and parent(s). An initial assessment will include:

  • gathering information from parent(s) in the first appointment (60 minutes) - $500

  • interviewing child/adolescent and reviewing treatment recommendations with both parent and child/adolescent in the second appointment (60 mins) - $500

The goal of these sessions is to create an individualized mental-health treatment plan with components such as:

  • medication management

  • individual psychotherapy

  • laboratory testing

  • completion of psychiatric rating scales

  • lifestyle modifications

Dr. Khan believes in collaborative care and may ask to reach out to your child’s individual therapist and/or pediatrician to help coordinate care. Dr. Khan may or may not recommend medication therapy for your child/adolescent, as he utilizes an evidence-based treatment emphasizing both biological and psychological interventions.

Medication Management with Brief Therapy (45 mins)

Follow-up appointments include monitoring response to medication treatment and incorporate brief psychotherapy. These appointments will include checking in with both child/adolescent and parent(s) regarding:

  • status of symptoms

  • progress in school

  • functioning within the family and amongst peers

  • overall goals for treatment

Rate for follow-up medication management appointments with brief therapy - $375

Dr. Khan follows measurement-based care and will ask for completion of psychiatric rating scales by teachers and by the patient and their parent(s). The recommended frequency and duration of these appointments depends on the severity of your child’s current symptoms. As a result, the frequency of sessions may be more at the start of treatment as we work towards finding a good treatment regimen.
